Hadlow Manor hosts successful quiz night for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust

On Friday 29th March the Hadlow Suite at Hadlow Manor was packed with quiz goers all eager to win the trophy for 1st place at a charity quiz night. With the quiz written and hosted by the hotels Head Receptionist and the scores tallied up by other members of the hotel staff it was a real team effort!

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the chosen charity for the hotel and following on from recent successful charity quiz nights at their sister hotel in Reigate the staff at Hadlow knew it would be a great chance to engage with the local community as well as raising money for a great cause!

Giles Thomas, Operations Director of the hotel group said “We really enjoy getting involved in the local community and hosting our quiz nights. The Hadlow Suite came alive with nearly 100 locals enjoying fish and chips and getting competitive over the questions all whilst generously helping us raise a fantastic £800 for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Local hotel recycles soap by sending it to Tanzania!

Hartsfield Manor in Betchworth is supporting a fantastic cause and at the same time making use of the 5,000 bars of barely used soaps left by guests every year!

The housekeeping team got so fed up with the wastage of the gorgeous Molton Brown soaps that are literally used once and then left on the side that they decided to do something about it. One of the housekeepers’ daughters is involved with the charity ‘Go Make a Difference in Tanzania’ via her school St Bedes and she found out that they are desperate for soap. The Housekeeping team have a box in the office where all the partly used soaps get stored and once there is a substantial amount they are boxed up and sent on to Tanzania to be used to help with keeping both children and adults clean and preventing fungal infections.

Jan King, head Housekeeper at Hartsfield Manor said “we can all make a difference by re-cycling and at Hartsfield we are actively trying to reduce our waste, which helps our business and often helps charities too.”
Giles Thomas, Operations Director said “The first we heard about this was in our monthly management meeting where Jan presented her teams initiative. What a great idea! it’s fantastic knowing we are doing something in a small way to help and saving waste at the same time”.

Hartsfield Family Fun Day

July kicked off with a scorcher on Sunday with our Family Fun Day in aid of George and the Giant Pledge.

Families from all around the area came to enjoy a great day full of fun activities and the odd cold glass of wine.

Whether you were enjoying the sun while listening to our local bands or gleefully watching your little ones laugh uncontrollably to our Punch and Judy show, everyone seemed to have a brilliant time.

The whole day was a huge success resulting in the hotel raising over £1500 for the charity. A huge thank you to everyone who came and supported us. We’ll see you next time.
